The College of Nursing and Health Professions through the University of Southern Indiana (USI) offers a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Post-Master’s Certificate programs with five advanced practice registered nursing (APRN) specializations. Students may be required to come to the Evansville, Indiana campus three to four times over the course of their chosen program. Clinical preceptorships are completed locally at approved facilities in eligible states of study.

The five specializations offered for both sets of programs include:

  • Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (AGCNS)
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)
  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
  • Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Campus immersions take place at the Clinical Simulation Center in Evansville, IN, which is designed to feel like a real hospital. Students are able to practice working on simulated patients in a safe environment. Immersions may include patient assessment and patient safety protocols, work with lab results and care, decision-making skills, and collaboration.

Students should verify with the College of Nursing and Health Professions whether the AGPCNP specialization is currently being offered, as well as the number of campus visits required for each program and specialization.

Graduates of the NP and CNS specializations are eligible to sit for their specific national certification exam through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

The University of Southern Indiana graduate nursing programs are accredited through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). USI is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is located in Evansville, Indiana.

Tuition is calculated based on credits, at the published tuition rate. Rates may change, so please check here for the latest tuition information. For programs with variable tuition rates, we use the rates for part-time students. “Resident” and “non-resident” refer to the student’s school-recognized state residency status. Tuition number represents the cost of tuition for the entire program, not per semester or year. Estimated total tuition does not include additional fees.
